How to bitcrush audio
1. Drop an audio file you already have. A photo or a video is refused here. 2. Leave strong, or pick light or medium. 3. Press “Bitcrush audio” and download.
GustKit runs the FFmpeg acrusher filter. Strong uses 4 bits, full mix and holds each sample for 8. Medium uses 5 bits and holds for 4. Light uses 8 bits, mixes half of the original and does not hold samples. MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC stay in that type. The length stays about the same.
A crushed wave, not a new bit depth
Bit depth rewrites the whole file as 8, 16 or 24 bit audio. Sample rate changes how many samples fit in a second. Bass and treble raise a band. This page roughens the wave and keeps the file type. It does not reverse the file and it does not change the tempo.
The audio stays in this tab
FFmpeg runs in this browser, on one thread. GustKit does not fetch audio from a link. Leave the tab open until the download appears. Close it and the file is gone. Audio up to the limit shown next to the button.
How to check the bitcrush
1. Play the download next to the original. 2. A smooth tone should sound stepped. Strong should step harder than light. 3. If the file type changed, you opened a different page.
Bit depth rewrites the file as 8, 16 or 24 bit audio. This page runs FFmpeg acrusher and keeps the file type. Nothing is uploaded.
