How to change audio bit depth
1. Drop one audio file you already have. A video or a photo is refused here. 2. Leave 16 bit, or pick 8 bit or 24 bit. 3. Press “Change bit depth” and play the download from the start.
GustKit runs FFmpeg aformat with sample format u8, s16 or s32 in this tab. A WAV is written as pcm_u8, pcm_s16le or pcm_s24le. 24 bit uses the s32 sample format because that is how FFmpeg stores 24 bit PCM. FLAC keeps 16 or 24 bit. 8 bit on FLAC is reduced in the filter, then stored in the encoder's nearest format. MP3, M4A and OGG stay that type after the same sample format step.
Depth is not the sample rate
Change sample rate changes how many samples fit in a second. This page changes how fine each sample is. Compress audio picks an MP3 bitrate. Stereo to mono mixes the channels. The length stays about the same. A long file is refused because the whole file is re-encoded.
The audio stays in this tab
The first visit downloads FFmpeg. Later visits reuse the browser cache. GustKit does not fetch audio from a link. Close the tab and the file is gone.
How to check the bit depth before you send the audio
1. Open the download in a player and listen to the start. 2. On a WAV, the file info should say 8, 16 or 24 bit. 3. If you need the depth stored in the file, keep WAV.
