How to convert WebP to GIF
1. Drop a WebP you already have. A video, a GIF or an audio file is refused here. 2. Press “Convert to GIF” and download.
This browser reads each frame of an animated WebP. FFmpeg then builds a palette and writes the GIF. The download keeps the name ending in .gif when at least two frames are written. A WebP that was already one picture goes through FFmpeg as a one-frame GIF. If an animation cannot be written, the download is a still GIF of the first frame, the name ends in still.gif, and the result says so.
A WebP page, not a GIF page
GIF to WebP starts from a GIF and aims at WebP. Video to GIF starts from a video. WebP to PNG and WebP to JPG save one still picture from the canvas. This page starts from a WebP and aims at GIF. Clips stay within the limit shown next to the button.
The WebP stays in this tab
FFmpeg runs in this browser on one CPU thread. GustKit does not fetch a WebP from a link. Leave the tab open until the download appears. Close it and the file is gone.
How to check the GIF
1. Open the download. 2. An animated WebP should still move when the name ends in .gif and the result does not mention the first frame. 3. If the name ends in still.gif, only the first frame was saved and the result on this page says so.
GIF to WebP starts from a GIF. This page starts from a WebP, animated or still, and saves a GIF. Nothing is uploaded.
