The file plays backwards. The length stays about the same. Audio up to 120 seconds. A video belongs on Reverse video.

How to reverse a short audio file

1. Drop one audio file you already have. Video and pictures are refused here. 2. Read the note: only files under the limit on the page are accepted, because the whole file is decoded first. 3. Press “Reverse audio” and play the download from the start.

A voice note that says a name and then a number comes back with the number first. GustKit re-encodes the file in this tab and keeps the type: WAV stays WAV, MP3 stays MP3. The length stays about the same. Keep the original until the backwards version is the one you wanted.

Backwards audio is not a reversed video

Reverse video turns a short clip around, picture and sound together. This page takes audio only and uses the FFmpeg areverse filter. Change audio speed shortens or stretches the file and keeps the words facing forward. Add silence inserts quiet time and does not flip the recording.

The audio stays in this tab

The first visit downloads FFmpeg. Later visits reuse the browser cache. A file longer than the limit is refused, because areverse holds the decoded audio in this tab. GustKit does not fetch audio from a link.

How to hear the backwards file before you replace the original

1. Play the download from the first second. The ending of the original should be what you hear first. 2. Check the length. It should stay close to the original, not grow like added silence. 3. Keep the original until a name or a number lands where you expect.

Reverse video is the page that also turns the picture around. Change audio speed keeps the words facing forward. Files over the limit are refused because the whole file is decoded. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Will the file get longer?

No. Reversing flips the timeline. A 6 second note is still about 6 seconds, with the end at the start.

Why is a long recording refused?

The whole file is decoded before it can play backwards. Trim it under the limit shown on the page, then reverse that piece.

Does the file type change?

No. WAV stays WAV, MP3 stays MP3, M4A stays M4A, FLAC stays FLAC and OGG stays OGG.

Is the audio uploaded?

No. FFmpeg runs in this tab.

The download is still about 6 seconds. Did it reverse?

Yes. Reversing does not add time. Play the first second: it should match the end of the original.

Can I reverse only the last half?

Not on this page. Trim the piece you want, then open this page on that shorter download.
