Frequently asked questions

Why convert WebP if it is already small?

Some upload forms and desktop apps still reject WebP. PNG is the safer file to hand them, even when it weighs more.

Is transparency kept?

Yes, when the WebP had transparent pixels. PNG can store them. JPG cannot, so do not pick JPG if the background must stay clear.

What about an animated WebP?

You get the first frame only, as a still PNG.
