How to convert JPG to WebP
1. Drop one or more JPG files. PNG and WebP are refused here. 2. Leave quality at 80% for a photo that should still look sharp, or pick a lower preset for a thumbnail. 3. Press “Convert images” and download the WebP, or a ZIP for a batch.
WebP is the format most modern sites expect when a photo should weigh less than the JPG. Older desktop apps and some upload forms still want JPG. If the receiver asked for JPG, keep the original.
What you do not get back
A JPG never had a transparent background, so the WebP will not invent one. The conversion also does not recover detail the JPG already threw away. Camera location is not copied, because the file is redrawn on the canvas.
Same converter, shorter page
Pixels are decoded in this tab and saved as WebP. Nothing is uploaded. For PNG input, or for a PNG result, use the matching page or Convert image.
