How to blur an image
1. Drop one or more photos. Audio and PDF files are refused here. 2. Leave Soft for a light veil, or pick Strong when the picture should be hard to read. 3. Press “Blur image” and open the download next to the original.
The radius is in pixels of the result. A tiny icon is capped so it does not become one flat color. Save PNG when you need a sharp file of the soft picture. JPG is smaller and a little softer again.
This is not the face tool
Blur face covers a rectangle you drag, and it can pixelate instead of blur. This page softens every pixel. Use it for a background, a spoiler, or a photo you do not want sharp.
The blur is three passes of a box filter, which is the usual stand-in for the Gaussian blur in CSS. It does not add a tint. Sepia image is the brown page. Grayscale image removes color without softening edges.
The photo stays in this tab
The canvas draws the new file here. Camera location is not copied into the result. Close the tab and the picture is gone.
How to judge the blur before you send the photo
1. Open the download at the size the other person will see it. 2. If a detail is still readable, run again at Strong. 3. If the whole picture is a smear and you only needed one area covered, use Blur face instead.
The radius is the same on every pixel. A small icon hits a cap so it does not turn into one color. PNG keeps the soft picture cleaner than JPG. Nothing is uploaded.
