Picture and sound change speed together. The voice stays close to the original pitch. Re-encoding takes about as long as the clip, or longer.

How to change video speed

1. Drop the video. 2. Pick a speed, or choose Custom and type a number from 0.25 to 4. 3. Press “Change speed” and download the MP4.

2x is twice as fast, so a 6 second clip becomes about 3 seconds. 0.5x is half speed, so the same clip becomes about 12 seconds.

Pitch and silent clips

The sound filter changes tempo without the usual chipmunk jump, within what a browser can do. A silent video still speeds up: GustKit retries without an audio filter if the file has no soundtrack.

What this is not

This does not trim the start or the end. Cut the clip first with Trim video if you only want a piece at the new speed. Very long files are refused so the tab does not sit encoding for an hour.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use 3x or 4x?

Yes. Choose Custom and type a number up to 4. Below 0.25 is refused.

Will the voice sound higher?

Much less than a simple speed-up. The tempo filter tries to keep the pitch. Extreme values still sound processed.

Does a video with no sound fail?

No. The picture is still written at the new speed.

Is the video uploaded?

No. FFmpeg runs in this tab.
