Your file never leaves your device. Processed locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

You get two files: the start, then the rest. Fast mode copies the streams and cuts near a keyframe. Exact mode re-encodes to the time you typed.

How to split a video in two

1. Drop one video you already have. Pictures and audio-only files are refused here. 2. Leave the split at the middle, or type a time such as 0:12, or pause the player and press “Set split from player”. 3. Leave Fast, or pick Precise when the cut must land on that frame. 4. Press “Split video” and download both files.

Fast mode copies the picture and the soundtrack and cuts near a keyframe, which is quick. Precise mode re-encodes so the cut matches the time you typed. A time at the very start or the very end is refused, because both files need a piece of the clip.

Two files, not a trim

Trim video keeps one span and throws the rest away. This page keeps both sides. Merge video is the page that joins files again. If you only need the middle, trim instead of splitting twice.

The clip stays in this tab

The first visit downloads FFmpeg. Later visits reuse the browser cache. Close the tab and the file is gone. GustKit does not fetch video from a link.

How to check both parts before you delete the original

1. Play the start of the first download and the start of the second. The second should begin where the first stopped, give or take a keyframe. 2. If a word is cut in half, run again in Precise mode. 3. Keep the original until both files play.

Fast mode does not re-encode, so the files stay close to the quality you dropped in. Precise mode rebuilds the picture. Trim video is the page that keeps only one side. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the cut a little early or late?

Fast mode copies the streams, so the cut lands on a nearby keyframe. Switch to Precise when the frame matters.

Can I split into more than two pieces?

Not in one step. Split once, then split a download again, or use Trim video for a single span.

Does the sound stay with each part?

Yes, when the video has a soundtrack. A silent video stays silent in both files.

Is the video uploaded?

No. FFmpeg runs in this tab.

One file is tiny. What happened?

The split sat very close to the start or the end, or the fast cut snapped to a nearby keyframe. Move the time toward the middle, or switch to Precise.

Can the two files use different formats?

No. Both downloads keep the container you dropped in when a stream copy works, or MP4 when GustKit has to re-encode.
