Sharpen a photo without uploading it

Drop a photo, pick how strong the edges should get, and download a sharper copy. Width and height stay the same. The picture stays in this tab.

  1. Choose file
  2. Set options
  3. Get result

Your file never leaves your device. Processed locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Location and camera metadata (EXIF) are removed from the result.

Edges get clearer. Width and height stay the same. Blur image does the opposite. Camera location is not copied.

How to sharpen a photo

1. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP you already have. Audio and video are refused here. 2. Leave Medium, or pick Light or Strong. 3. Keep the original format, or choose JPG, PNG or WebP. 4. Press “Sharpen image” and compare the download with the original at the same zoom.

GustKit draws the photo on a canvas and applies an unsharp mask: each pixel moves away from a soft copy of itself, so edges read more clearly. The pixel size does not change. A strong setting can add a halo on high-contrast edges. Keep the original until the download looks right.

Sharpen is not blur, and it is not invert

Blur image softens the whole photo. Invert colors flips each hue. This page keeps the hues and makes neighboring pixels differ more. It does not crop, rotate or resize. Camera location is not copied into the new file.

The photo stays in this tab

Nothing is sent to a server to be edited. Close the tab and the picture is gone. A photo over the megapixel limit on the page is refused, because the canvas has to hold every pixel.

How to check the sharper photo before you post it

1. Open the original and the download at the same zoom. 2. Look at an edge, such as hair or a window frame. It should read more clearly, not as a thick outline. 3. If you see a halo, run again at Light.

The pixel size does not change. Blur image softens instead of sharpening. Invert colors is a separate page. JPG quality can be lowered on purpose. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Will a blurry photo become a new camera shot?

No. Sharpen makes edges easier to see. It cannot invent detail that was never in the file. A very soft photo stays soft, with slightly clearer edges.

Does the size in pixels change?

No. Width and height stay the same. Resize image is the page that changes the pixel size.

Why do strong edges look outlined?

A strong unsharp mask pushes contrast at the boundary. Drop back to Light or Medium and run again.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. The canvas in this tab does the work.

The download looks the same at a glance. Did it work?

Zoom in on an edge. Medium and Strong move neighboring pixels apart. A photo that was already very sharp changes less.

Can I sharpen and also crop in one step?

No. Crop first, or sharpen first, then open the other page on the download.
