The FFmpeg eq filter changes brightness and re-encodes the picture. A soundtrack is kept when the file has one. Clips up to 30 seconds. A photo belongs on Adjust brightness.

How to change video brightness

1. Drop a short video you already have. A GIF or an audio file is refused here. 2. Leave brighter, or pick darker, a little brighter or much brighter. 3. Press “Change brightness” and download the MP4.

GustKit runs the FFmpeg eq filter. Darker subtracts 0.12. A little brighter adds 0.06. Brighter adds 0.12. Much brighter adds 0.22. The picture is re-encoded. A soundtrack is kept when the file has one. Width and height stay the same.

A short clip, a new MP4

Adjust brightness changes a photo on the canvas and can also change contrast. This page changes only the brightness of a short video. The download is always MP4, because every frame is re-encoded. Clips stay within the limit shown next to the button.

The clip stays in this tab

FFmpeg runs in this browser on one CPU thread. GustKit does not fetch a video from a link. Leave the tab open until the download appears. Close it and the file is gone.

How to check the brighter clip

1. Play the download next to the original. 2. A gray wall should look lighter on Brighter and darker on Darker. 3. If the frame grew, you added a border on another page.

Adjust brightness changes a photo and can also change contrast. This page changes only video brightness with the eq filter and saves MP4. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

The download is an MP4 and the picture is lighter. Did it work?

Yes. Brighter adds 0.12 with the eq filter. Width and height stay the same.

Why is there a time limit?

The eq filter re-encodes every frame. A long clip would sit on one CPU thread for a long time, so this page takes short clips only.
