How to limit peaks
1. Drop an audio file you already have. A photo or a video is refused here. 2. Leave light, or pick medium or strong. 3. Press “Apply limiter” and download.
GustKit runs the FFmpeg alimiter filter with automatic makeup turned off. Light stops near 3 dB under full scale. Medium stops near 6 dB. Strong stops near 12 dB. MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC stay in that type. A video soundtrack belongs on the video pages.
A ceiling, not a squeeze
The audio compressor pulls loud and quiet closer and adds makeup gain. This page only stops peaks that cross a ceiling, and it does not lift the quiet parts. It also does not lower the bitrate. The extension stays the same.
The audio stays in this tab
FFmpeg runs in this browser. GustKit does not fetch audio from a link. Close the tab and the file is gone. Files up to the limit shown next to the button.
How to check the limiter
1. Play the download next to the original. 2. A loud peak should sit lower. Strong should stop it lower than light. 3. If the file type changed, you opened a different page.
The audio compressor also lifts quiet notes. This page runs the FFmpeg alimiter filter and keeps the file type. Peaks stop at a ceiling and the quiet parts stay quiet. Nothing is uploaded.
